hi guys, I'm hoping any of you can point me to the right direction on how to get backlink from .edu website for free ?

Because I think .edu backlink is very important to get some trust from SE.

Try doing a search for "forum" + ".edu" to get a list of schools with forums you can participate in.

I believe Harvard also maintains a list of schools with forums you can participate in and post a link back to your site as well.

I know a lot of people are interested in getting .edu links, but do they still really make a difference anymore?

very good idea with that search.
Thanks a bunch.

Google will never spill the beans on their ranking algorithm, but there has been evidence that suggests that Google sees sites with the ".edu" and ".gov" extensions as authority sites because they are impossible to get unless you are an actual governmental agency or an accredited school. There's also been evidence of sites being shielded from the "Google Slaps" because they had backlinks from .edu and .gov sites. I personally have never been adversly affected by the Google Slap, but then again none of my sites have ever pushed the Black/Gray/White Hat SEO Envelope.

Find colleges or university's that have forums or blogs that students can post to. Then head over to my space or face book and search for people that go to one of those schools and offer them a few bucks to drop a link back your site in the forum. I have a friend who has some adult membership sites and she offers a free month membership for a back link. This works really well especially on the guys.

The key with this is finding the right person, you don't want to find some tight ass who is going run and report you to the university. You can learn a lot about people by reading their profiles.

I wouldn't pay till the link was on the site either but thats just me.

thanks for great replies guys, especially blackhaze blog, I've found several .edu blog that way, thanks again

I am not an SEO guru but sometimes this method helped me finding good .edu forums with good PR.

1. Install SEO quake plugin with Firefox. (With this plugin you can view the page rank of the link of the search result with Google or yahoo)

2. search google with following term allinurl: .edu forum (this will list the edu links which have forum in the link .. you can sort the links according to the PR with SEO quake plugin ..

hope that helped a bit :)

on google:
inurl:.edu forum
inurl:.edu blog

also in firefox - plugin called similarweb - you click on it and it gives you sites the resemble the one you're in. once you enter a ,edu forum, it will find you more similar sites.

So why are you posting back in a year old thread?

I was simply interested in the thread and though I could offer some help. Is there a problem with that?
